Thank you to all our 2016 Supporters!

banner-2We wanted to thank you for your support of TIGSAR in 2016, update you on the what the team did with the money they raised and tell you about our plans for 2017.
In the past year the team has been very busy. Of course we are still training once a month so that we can be prepared to support our community professionals whenever needed.
Our multipurpose trailer is equipped and ready for deployment. It has been very useful this past year. We now in addition to our 4 season trailer, have a generator, thanks to the Lions and Rotary clubs of Gananoque, a defibulator with new pads and battery thanks to Action First Aid and the Lions Club of Brockville, three computers thanks to the Gananoque Legion. Thanks to BCR our training K9 are receiving excellent quality food. We also received more uniforms and coats from the Frontenac County EMS.
Additional equipment from team fundraising of stokes litters, ropes, first aid supplies, admin supplies, mapping software and SAR tracking software as well as D4H for tracking our members time, events and deployment call out. We have had 5 team members attending training for K9 SAR. We have given 43 AdventureSmart (Search and Rescue Prevention) presentations to children and adults in our community schools and groups to 2680 participants, volunteering 302 hours to SAR prevention alone.
We proudly displayed the business sponsors on the back of the trailer in Brockville at the KIA of Brockville Emergency Services Day, Gananoque Rotary Craft Fair, BMX Canada Regional race in Gananaque, Polson Park community fun day in Kingston, Lyndhurst Turkey Fair, Ottawa SBO-OVSAR’s 20th Anniversary at the Aviation Museum in Ottawa, Eastern Ontario Regional SAREX Larose Forest and the Gananoque Santa Clause Parade. At the parade we gave out over 600 colouring books and the attached flyer. It has been a busy year.
In 2017 our training focus as always will be on how we can be better prepared to support our community. We plan to expand our prevention program, purchase additional rescue equipment, expand our rescue training program, conduct Team Leader training and Urban Search training.
All of this could not have happened without your support. THANK YOU!
We hope that you will continue your support of TIGSAR in 2017.
